Creation & Humanity
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” — Genesis 1:27
The doctrine of creation is the foundation of all theology. Before God redeems, He creates. Before He saves, He makes. The verb in this foundational verse — bara (בָּרָא) — is reserved in Scripture exclusively for God’s creative activity. Everything the Bible teaches about sin, salvation, and the final restoration of all things depends on what God intended when He called the world into existence and formed humanity from the dust.
Why Creation Matters
Section titled “Why Creation Matters”Understanding creation answers the deepest questions of human existence:
- Origin — Where did we come from? God made all things by His word and will
- Identity — Who are we? Creatures made in the image of the living God
- Purpose — Why are we here? To glorify God and enjoy fellowship with Him
- Problem — What went wrong? Sin entered through human rebellion and fractured everything
- Hope — Where are we going? God’s redemptive plan restores what was broken
